In Depth
Physical Description
If you asked someone what Arthur Kirkland looked like, they would tell you that he has giant mats of hair that he calls eyebrows with little green eyes peering under them. If you saw him for yourself you would notice that he also has sandy blonde hair that he never bothers keeping brushed. He doesn't see the point since he's usually in the middle of erratic gusts of wind most of the time. He's also shorter than most men, but you do not want to be around him when you tell him that.

You can usually find the merchant in a 4-piece suit. The suit consists of a dress shirt, a vest, jacket, and pants. It's primarily in the color of brown or grey. You might also see him in his formal sailing attire of his large red decorated jacket, cravat, white dress shirt, borwn leggings, and  dark brown boots. Although for most of time while he is at sea, he'll just be in his shirt, leggings, and boots.

Personality
Arthur's personality could be described as socially awkward. In his mind, he sees himself as a gentleman. If you stayed in the confines of his mind, than he may even begin to seem so. However, even though he plans to say one thing, he really ends up saying something different. Something different usually having something to do with English curses and insults. If you aren't a friend of his, then Arthur is just going to end up being the rude guy that you have to deal with when you get your tea leaves.

His sailors usually having the best chance of getting to be on of his only friends. It makes sense, as they all have to weather the dangerous and long trips to and from England, plus those behind the scenes acts as pirates. They know that Arthur is scared to curse, but then everyone knows that neither are they. Arthur claims he can see fairies and the sailors always believe them; they're naturally extremely superstitious. So the Arthur they see is worrying and kind, but firm so no one ends up dying

Arthur also the ability to get violent, and very much so. This is usually accomplished by getting him mad at you, or by embarrassing him. Though one might not think it when they look at him, the captain is actually good at fighting, and he's not afraid to prove it when he feels irked enough. He can be easily goaded into fighting by a few that repeatedly get on his nerves.

History
Arthur was born in the family of a noble. He was properly taught the manners and customs of one, and stuck to them despite the influence of his cruder older brothers. It was rough, trying to be a gentleman and resist violence, when all the others around you insisted on beating you up. Eventually, Arthur realized the necessity to fight as he got older to did so against his persistent siblings. They were all tall and muscular, so he learned how to fight against bigger guys than him. A trait that proved to be extremely useful to him later on.

When Arthur got to be a young teenager, he went on a trip overseas with his parents. They were going to go visit the country of new beginnings: America. Specifically, they were going to North America to visit some of the booming towns. On the way there, they were attacked by pirates. They were burly and aggressive, but surprisingly small. Some of them were the same age as him. He'd always read stories about pirates, but he thought they died off a long time ago. Seeing the legends proven true, and that he himself could be part of it, Arthur felt a spark in him.

When he finally got to be of age, he worked on ships. Cleaning, repairing, rowing, he did all sorts of jobs. As he got more and more into it, he learned how to operate one too. How to use a compass and map, how to brave a storm, how to fight pirates, how to steer from one place to the other, it was all fun for him. So when he got to be 21, he got his own ship and told his parents that he was going to be a wealthy merchant. They already had their other sons to be their heirs, so they let him go. Once they did, he took up piracy as a side job.

The Golden Age of Piracy ended, sure, but Arthur Kirkland made sure that people realized it was still a threat. He attacked other merchant ships, he attacked other pirates, always gaining profit. He developed a fake name for his piracy trips and get feared by South America where he frequently raided. Very few of his customers have realized his side job. Some of those who have actually live in Aldmoor. He occasionally takes some jobs to deal with other pirates. They pay him well, and even gave him a house in Ostnesse, where he stays to rest and repair his ship between trips.

Captain Arthur Kirkland printed the image of his home into his brain to look upon later on those dark stormy nights at sea. Once satisfied, he turned and exited his home. Because his house was located by the docks, it really only took him five mintues to reach his port. He walked towards his ship, seeing a small group of bystanders standing near it, as they moved around and rubbed their hands together to try and keep warm. As he started walking onto his ship to expect it, the young men recognized him as their captain and tried to talk to him, but he would have none of that. As far as he cared, the group of men huddled around his ship were about as useful as a termite-infested plank. Whether or not they would be good enough sailors would be proved soon enough.

Arthur walked up onto his ship and took a look around. As expected, the ship was just as much in good condition as it was the day before. Arthur had made sure of that. He'd mothered over every last inch of this ship to make sure it was in working order. He'd be damned before the he let some irresponsible git mess up his beauty. There was a reason why he was the number one captain in the British Empire, and it was a bloody good one.
