The Basics
Character Name
Sadiq Adnan
Age
29
Gender
Male
Country
Republic of Turkey/Ottoman Empire ((Considering the time period, it would probably be the Ottoman Empire honestly)).
Hometown
Istanbul, Turkey
Occupation
Spice Merchant. At least nominally. Really, he’ll sell anything, and he has at least one airship that he owns, though he often doesn’t get to crew it himself.

In Depth
Physical Description
Sadiq is a fairly large man, standing at 6’2’’ and being rather broad shouldered at that. He also has a rather decent amount of muscle considering that he’s worked for years around the ships and the docks, and continues to move his own cargo to this day as much as possible. He wears his black hair fairly short, and usually he has a white mask on. In fact, this mask which covers half his face was given to him a long time ago by someone he cared deeply for, and is supposed to ward off the Evil Eye. The only time he takes it off is to sleep, bath, or around someone he trusts deeply. He’d wear it to bed if he could.
If he is just working, he’ll wear practical clothing in shades of brown and green. Occasionally, if he’s at the shop he’ll play up the idea of the orient, wearing a turban or other such headgear, and elaborately decorated robes in purple, gold and red. If he somehow ends up at any other part of town however, he can certainly dress up as a Victorian gentleman, with the black and white suit, hat, gloves, and even a cane. He just finds such a get up highly impractical for working down near the docks and market place in a desert. Honestly, he’s the type that can dress up for any occasion and do it well, donning and dropping outfits as personas. He’s the type of actor that needs the costume to fit the role, but once he has it, he takes on the mannerisms associated with it. That being said, every getup comes with a hat and his mask.

Personality
Sadiq is a deeply shady type of character, and everyone seems to expect that of him. He usually looks like he’s scamming someone, and tends to smile at inappropriate moments. As much as he can, he plays up the image people seem to form of him, tending to go to extremes of what his personality actually is around people. He may be a bit slimy at heart, but he acts even more so than he is around others.
That being said, this is a man who likes to twist words and get one up on people. He prefers having a good amount of power, but prefers even more to have power behind the scenes. There are certainly days in which he can be quite the bully, using his own physical presence to attempt to cower people on occasion.
But for all that, there’s a heart in this guy… somewhere. Way down there. It would take a good deal of attachment before he would be willing to show this though, as he tends to have as many trust issues as a dune has sand grains. He’d rather not deal with anyone getting close to him, and this perhaps explains a certain extent why he ups his act around others.

History
Sadiq was born in Istanbul, in the Ottoman Empire about the time said empire was starting to wane obviously. His mother dying shortly after birth, he never really was able to figure out who his father was, and grew up on the streets of Istanbul as an urchin, taking kindness where he could find it, and conning those that exhibited no kindness offhand. As much as part of him loved, and still loves Istanbul, he was thrilled to finally get out of the place, hitching the first airship that would hire him, and spending the next several years working on different crews—both that flew legally and those that did not. It all depended on the paw he could get from them.
During this time, he started figuring out not only how to fight, and fight well, but how to interact with all sorts of different people, and how to please various groups. He started to build different personas based off whichever type of people he was dealing with at any given time. Really, to him it was just continuing his tradition of conning everything he could from people.
Eventually, he found himself dropped off at Aldmoor, and with his money from different adventures, set himself up with a small shop on the busy docks, a year later going so far as to buy his own airship, though it is a rather small one. He often doesn’t use it himself, but likes the amount of power it gives him over his own supply routes.

Important Information
He will always be wearing his mask, and tends to be found in his shop down by the docks during the day. His nightlife though? Well, he tends to wander the city more then.

Likes
*A good strong cup of coffee—and he’s willing to pay for it.
*Cooking—dishes from his homeland mostly.
*Airships—he likes the power they have, and that they can give to their owners.
*The desert—he likes the dry warmth of the place, and the way it stretches on and on, and tests humankind’s ability to survive.
*Creating different outfits—he has a variety of personas for different occasions, and likes having the wardrobe to match.
*His mask—for various reasons he’s never seen without it.
*A good book—preferably not a British one.

Dislikes
*Cats—he’s allergic.
*Tea—why have tea when coffee can be found?
*Law enforcement—not that he’s doing anything obviously illegal, but he’d prefer to avoid them.
*Greeks—at least he claims to.
*Imperialists—from every country except the Ottoman Empire, those he’s fine with.

Sadiq dropped the last of the boxes in their proper place, stacked a bit haphazardly around the store. The latest shipment had just arrived that morning, and he wanted to get most of the new item out and stocked as soon as possible. It probably wouldn’t be until late afternoon that he achieved this completely, but an hour or two of work and he should be able to open shop. That damn apprentice he was supposed to have hadn’t shown their faces at all that day, so he figured they might have to have some words later. Very loud, angry words. Little brat only brought it on their own heads.
He glanced around the shop again, enjoying the earthy tones from it, and the softly twinkling gold babbles hung up around the place, that he had brushed into motion on his way in. Most of the shop was a spice shop, but with a healthy dose of gold babbles and various other things. Under the counter was a small selection of Turkish knifes for example.
Whistling to himself, he set about unpacking the top box, eyebrows raising when he heard the door open. “I take it ya have some kinda reason for comin’ in?” he asked. “The door says closed.”

It then occurred to me I wrote this entire thing up while running a slight fever, so if anything doesn't make sense, I will be more than willing to look back over it.
